Take a cruise down the Blyde River which is situated in the third largest canyon in the world.  Located beneath the distinctive, towering peaks of the famous Three Rondavels and with views of Mariepskop (the highest summit in the Northern Drakensberg), the Swadini Dam is home to hippos, crocodiles and fish eagles. The surrounding vegetation supports a variety of wildlife species such as kudu and duiker, three species of primates as well as leopard and other small carnivors, which you may spot on the leisurely 90-minute cruise that departs each morning and afternoon.

This full-day tour of the northern Drakensberg escarpment starts early at 08:30 when you will be collected from your lodge.  The entire trip along the Blyde Canyon offers exceptional scenery and takes in Bourke's Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels and expansive views of the Blyde Dam. You will visit Berlin and Lisbon Falls, God's Window, the Pinnacle and perhaps take the lift to explore the forest floor at the base of the escarpment.  You will also enjoy exploring the small historic town of Graskop where you can purchase lunch and browse the shops offering top-quality curios.  For the adventurous, ziplining and the big swing are available.

Cultural Tour

The Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre cares for animals and birds that have either been injured or orphaned. This tour highlights human/animal interactions that have gone wrong. The animals are treated and nursed back to health and where possible released back into the wild. The centre becomes a permanent home for the animals that cannot be released and they become the stars of the education and awareness tours at the centre.

We offer guests a genuine village experience as you learn about the origins, journeys and lifestyles of the Shangaan tribe.  Guests discover how the huts are built,  maize is ground, boys pass initiation, girls learn to bead and more. You get to interact with the locals whilst sharing a traditional meal with members of the Nyani Village.

You may also like to visit the  Nourish Eco Village near Orpen.  This village is a local NGO linking community issues and ideals with conservation.
